Mathematical Cognition and Learning Lab

Mathematical Cognition and Learning Lab

The Mathematical Cognition and Learning Lab (MCLL) explores the psychological mechanisms underlying the processing and learning of mathematics and applies cutting-edge knowledge to drive positive change in mathematics education. At the same time, the MCLL promotes open-science practices, making research more transparent, reliable, and reproducible.

The MCLL has been established as a Flagship Project under the Excellence Initiative – Jagiellonian University, within the Priority Research Area “Society of the Future.” Its research is further supported by external grants. The lab’s core facility includes six desktop stations for behavioral testing of human participants, a high-end EyeLink 1000 Plus eye-tracking system, a PLUX Biosignals kit for basic psychophysiological measures (EMG, EDA, HR), a FLIR thermal imaging camera, and several Meta Quest 2 and 3 virtual-reality headsets. The MCLL is co-led by Krzysztof Cipora and Mateusz Hohol.
